The document places strong emphasis on the historical sources of sound doctrine, including "full assent to the theological and ethical content of Resolution 1.10 of the Conference of Lambeth, 1998", and, in the hope of institutionalizing a "Brazilian Anglican Network" in the near future, the following appeal was made:

"Nourished by the Word, enriched by History, challenged by the current global configuration, dependent on the Holy Spirit, we appeal to all orthodox expressions of Anglicanism in this country to join with us in this historic process, so that we may achieve more visible expressions of unity in this catholic and reformed part of the Body of Christ." As founders, the leaders of the following jurisdictions undersigned the Declaration:

1. The Anglican Diocese of Recife, under the Primatial Authority of the Anglican Church of the Southern Cone of America - Anglican Communion: Dom Robinson Cavalcanti, Diocesan Bishop, Very Revd. Estevão Menezes Chiappetta, Dean of the Cathedral;

2. The Anglican Church of Brazil - IAB (Independent Anglican Communion): Dom Ricado Lorite de Lima, Archbishop Primate, Dom Rui Costa Barbosa, Assistant Bishop, Dom Célio Fraca Spinelli, Vicar General and Rev. Getúlio Gutemberg;

3. The Episcopal Reformed Church - IER: Dom Sebastião Mendes de Freitas, Bishop Primate and Dom Francisco Buzzo Rodrigues, Assistant Bishop;

ANGLICAN MOVEMENT "FOR A COMMON CAUSE" THE BOA VIAGEM DECLARATION

We, the undersigned, members of the Church of Jesus Christ, from various jurisdictions, committed to the Anglican tradition and identity, seeking to live in a spirit of fraternity, respect and cooperation, and in partnership in renewed missionary efforts, moved by our passion for the Gospel, looking for the construction of a relationship marked by intercession, dialogue, mutual exchange and collaboration, in the truth and in love, gathered on this occasion, the Feast of Saint Jerome, Bible translator, in the Bom Samaritano Anglican Cathedral– Boa Viagem - Recife - Pernambuco State, solemnly sign the present "Boa Viagem Declaration", officially initiating the Anglican Movement "For a Common Cause", with the following basis:

The acceptance of the Canonical Books of the Old and New Testament of the Holy Scriptures as the inspired Word of God, containing all things necessary for salvation, and as the ultimate authority and immutable standard for Christian life and faith; the confession of the Historical Faith of the Indivisible Church as declared in the Apostolic and Nicene Creeds; the belief in the teachings of the Seven Ecumenical Councils, which accord with the Holy Scriptures, held down the ages; the maintenance of the two Gospel Sacraments instituted by Christ Himself: Baptism and the Lord's Supper, to be administered with the correct usage of the words of Christ in his institution of them, and with all the elements by Him prescribed; the acceptance of the editions of the Book of Common Prayer (Portuguese: LOC) from 1449 to 1662, and its Ordinal, as the foundations for Anglican worship and the norms for doctrinal/discipline; the belief in the Historic Episcopate as necessary for the plenitude of the Church, and the affirmation of the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion as fundamental for authentic Anglican belief and practice, and as a corrective to doctrinal abuses, and the endorsing of the theological and ethical content of Resolution 1.10 of the Lambeth Conference,1998.
