CANADA: Three new ACiC Churches birthed in Canada
10/7/2004
The Anglican Communion in Canada (ACiC) is pleased to welcome three new churches as members. They will now receive protection from the offer of Temporary Adequate Episcopal Oversight (TAEO) from five International Archbishops and come under the authority of The Rt. Rev. Thomas Johnston. Two of these congregations are in southern Saskatchewan and one on Vancouver Island.
In Regina, The Anglican Church of the Redeemer meets at 7:00pm Sunday evening in the Rogers Chapel at Western Bible College. The congregation of St. Jude's Apostolic Anglican Church is presently meeting at 10:00 am Sunday in a home at 810 Soames St., Indian Head Saskatchewan. Their Pastors, Rev. Tom Needham and the Rev. Olukayode (Kayode) Abedogun are excited about this new ministry and are looking forward to developing vibrant Anglican congregations in these locations. They have already started a Church School for the Children. Men's Group and Bible studies are also available. They can be contacted at olukayode@accesscomm.ca or
tomroseneedham@yahoo.com or (306) 949-9793.
The Rev. Ron Risley and about 30 former members of St. James, Nanaimo have formed a new congregation which they have named The Lighthouse Church. They have rented worship space from the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 2400 Highland Blvd, Nanaimo and meet at 10:00am Sunday in the Lower Hall.
Pastor Risley commented that their worship is
contemporary in style with lots of lay participation. He and the
leadership of this fledgling Anglican Church plant are excited to be
building what he calls "a body of faith". The Rev. Ron Risley can be
contacted at (250-729-9164) or by email at rmrisley@shaw.ca for further information about their mission and ministry.
These three pastors have been licensed as missionary priests of the
Episcopal Province of Rwanda under the Temporary Adequate Episcopal
Oversight (TAEO) offered by the Primates of Rwanda, Kenya, Central
Africa, the Congo and South East Asia. The Rt. Rev. T.J. Thomas Johnston, an Anglican Mission in America (AMiA) Bishop from Little Rock, Arkansas, has been deputed by the Primates to care for the priests and congregations.
The ACiC Leadership and churches ask for your prayers as we continue to receive into fellowship courageous pastors and congregations who are willing to sacrifice everything to pursue the true "doctrine, discipline
and worship of Christ".
