VOL Seeks Help from its Readers over A049 Roll Call HOB Vote

Dear VOL Readership:

We need your help.

Virtueonline www.virtueonline.org has repeatedly tried, but without success, to get the House of Bishops' Roll Call vote on A049. VOL has been told:

"The details of the roll call vote are not yet available. The expectation is that they will not be available until after they have been certified, a process that may take some time." ... "Roll calls will be available later." ... "After Convention adjourns, all materials including roll call votes go to the archives and eventually will be printed in the journal." ... "The tallies you request were physically posted at the General Convention. Therefore, they were archived." ... The Archives is currently experiencing a significant backlog of inquiries after General Convention. Our response to you will be delayed. We appreciate your patience." ... "While this department [The Archives] plays an important role at General Convention to bundle up and make sure that on-site documentation created by the Convention makes its way safely back to NY, that transfer does not involve our taking custody of the documentation. The records are still active and are under the oversight of the General Convention Secretariat. I am sorry that we cannot help you at this time. I am sorry that we cannot help you at this time." ... "Thank you for your interest in the Episcopal Church and General Convention 2012. Your inquiry is being referred to the Executive Officer of the Episcopal Church General Convention for further action."

It is now very apparent that The Episcopal Church is not willing or able to be forthright in releasing the HOB vote in a timely manner.

Therefore VOL turns to you, our readers, for help

Do you know how your bishop(s) voted? Or do you know if your Diocese is allowing same-sex blessings? Let VOL know. E-mail us at: a049@virtueonline.org

If you have documentation such as a blog reference, a letter to the diocese, or a published news story, please send us that URL notation so we can maintain an accurate record.

VOL has designed a chart -- showing all living Episcopal bishops -- to reflect each bishop's vote. We have cobbled together as much information as possible, but the chart is very incomplete. We need you to help us complete it.

Together we can get the results of the House of Bishops' Roll Call vote on A049.
