However, they will not themselves be allowed to conduct gay weddings within the church.

Last year, the assembly agreed that ministers could enter into civil partnerships.

This decision means the Kirk adopts a position which maintains a traditional view of marriage between a man and woman, but allows individual congregations to "opt out" if they wish to appoint a minister or a deacon in a same-sex marriage or a civil partnership.

The Most Rev. Dr. Eliud Wabukala will now join the growing list of the Archbishops emeritus. They are Festo Olang; Manases Kuria, David Gitari, and Benjamin Nzimbi.

The new Primate will be enthroned on the 3rd July 2016.

The Episcopal Church still has a lawsuit pending against us in Peoria County and another pending against us in Rock Island County. These lawsuits are essentially asking for the courts to award the assets of our individual congregations to the Episcopal Church.
