We are confused about how Bishop Michael has come to the decision he has made. We continue to believe that the official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church is in error in several key respects which makes Bishop Michael's decision one which we cannot understand or endorse.

And in several African countries, bishops aligned with the worldwide United Methodist Church are preparing to join an in-the-works breakaway denomination so they can continue their practice of refusing to recognize same-sex marriage or ordain LGBTQ clergy.

In early 2009, after Bishop Jack Iker (III Fort Worth) shepherded his diocese out of The Episcopal Church and into the Global South, he made the offer to All Saints, and any other Episcopal parish desiring to stay in The Episcopal Church, to enter into an agreement with him which would allow the congregations seeking to remain faithful to The Episcopal Church to keep their buildings and properties. Canon 32 was set up as the vehicle to affect an equitable separation.
