The reports of the votes were registered Monday morning in circuit courts in Arlington , Fairfax and Prince William counties. The other four churches filing reports are Church of the Apostles in Fairfax , St. Stephen's Church in Heathsville, St. Margaret's Church in Woodbridge , and St. Paul 's Church in Haymarket. The other two churches that voted are Christ the Redeemer in Centreville and Potomac Falls in Sterling .

"If some people decide they need to go then our best recourse is to bless their journey and to remind people that the door will remain open and the porch light on," she said.

The Episcopal Church includes some 7,200 congregations in its 100 domestic dioceses, and about 150 in its 10 overseas dioceses and one convocation.

Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori is saddened by any split from the church and will consult her advisers on how the denomination should respond, said Bob Williams, the national Episcopal spokesman.

Ninety percent of Falls Church parishioners and 92 percent of Truro members who cast ballots in the last week supported cutting ties with The Episcopal Church, parish leaders said Sunday.

Six other Virginia parishes are voting this month whether to leave.

"The diocese owns their property," he said in an interview with The Washington Times. "It was developed by generations of people who were faithful Episcopalians and who are buried with these churches. We have a fiduciary responsibility not to let a current generation of leaders -- who are mistaken -- to take away the property of the church."

But, he added, "I do not want to go to court if we can avoid that."
