The diocese has notified the Harris County District Attorney's office of the misappropriation and will forward the results of its audit to investigators, spokesman Bill Ferrell said.

The discrepancies are in a fund used primarily for the purchase of property and not the diocese's operating budget, Ferrell said. The fund contained $5.5 million in cash and other assets as of March 31, he said.

We are sad, however, that the General Synod of the ACC has passed an amendment to resolution A-134 which has the effect of negating the deferral of paragraph 2 to the Primates Theological Committee. In our view, the amendment is much more serious than even the original form of the motion which did not describe the nature of same-sex unions.
