There is a new twist in property settlements being handed out by revisionist Episcopal bishops to orthodox parishes who wish to flee their grip. You can cut a deal and keep your parish, for a price of course, but you can't use the word "Anglican" on your own property.
This approach has proven successful with a number of parishes in the dioceses of Pittsburgh and Virginia where fleeing parishes have cut monetary deals to keep their properties. These deals have included dropping the "Anglican" name and any affiliation with the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), CANA or AMiA, for up to five years in some cases.
Sodomy is acceptable but not Anglican.
In the Diocese of Ohio, St. Luke's Anglican Church in Akron, left TEC and came under CANA and Bishop Roger Ames. The diocese was prepared to accept a lease back arrangement with the parish (which the congregation had built and paid for). Bishop Mark Hollingsworth agreed, but only if the parish dropped the word "Anglican" from its church.
"No deal," said the parish. The congregation is looking for a new location.
Neither the diocese, Fr. Mike Kraynak, St. Luke's, nor Bishop Ames returned calls or e-mails requesting further information.
