The court said "a reasonable observer" in the community would know of the religious motivations of the part-time minister who secured private donations for the monument and the quick approval of the commissioners who heard his request for it.

George Tiller was one of the most recognized abortion doctors in America. This nation has known few doctors who would perform the late-term abortions for which Dr. Tiller was infamous. He was known for his willingness to perform almost any abortion-even to abort babies that would safely survive outside the womb. He saw himself as a champion of women's rights. To others, he was an agent of death who was personally responsible for the deaths of thousands of unborn human beings.

In DC, as elsewhere in the U.S., the demographic group hardest hit by AIDS is the homosexual community. Washington Post writer Jose Vargas noted, "Men having sex with men (MSM) has remained the disease's leading mode of transmission."

The same was true in Massachusetts when the state's Department of Public Health released a report in early December. MSM accounted for more than 50 percent of the HIV cases reported between 2004 and 2006.

Pro-lifers should indeed condemn the murder of George Tiller. But we should not play permanent defense as the nonsense snowballs and the unfair attacks against the pro-life movement multiply. Here are some facts that should be taken into consideration by all people of good will, especially those whose responsibility it is to report on this story.
