Increasing numbers in the church think it is a kindness to refrain from speaking truthfully to the same-sex attracted and gender-challenged. This is a dangerous untruth, jeopardizing millions of lives.

Cardinal Sarah recently made an impassioned plea to his brother priests and bishops to stop depriving the same-sex attracted from the 'hard parts of the Gospel' and to instead lavish us with its life-giving truth that we too might live in freedom as sons and daughter of God.

With her loss of 13 seats, Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader Theresa May was sent scrambling to form a coalition government in what is now a hung Parliament. The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) is in negotiations to be the likely partner.

One famous assessment of the options was the very influential 1951 volume by the Protestant theologian and ethicist H. Richard Niebuhr, Christ and Culture. In it he examined five major ways believers over the centuries have interacted with culture. These include "Christ against Culture" and "Christ the Transformer of Culture".

While so much of the West can be described in such terms, the UK is a clear example of this. Christianity is on the decline there big time, and secularism, along with militant Islam, are rushing in to fill the gap. And as I have said before, an anaemic, value-less secularism is no match against a crusading Islam.
