The Anglo-Catholic priest and vestry of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rosemont, PA withdrew their claims of malpractice today against Mr. John Lewis Jr., and the law firm of Montgomery McCracken.

The attorney for Lewis and the law firm, Mr. Richard L. Bazelon told VOL that Mr. Lewis and Montgomery, McCracken had placed David Moyer, the Church of the Good Shepherd, and their attorneys on notice of the possibility that they were subjecting themselves to future liability on claims that they had brought and maintained the malpractice claims without any basis.

Fr. Moyer, the parish priest, who is also a bishop in the Traditional Anglican Communion, decided to withdraw their complaint "with prejudice".

In his response, Lewis, said "Unfortunately, instead of issuing a full retraction and an apology to me, David Moyer, The Church of the Good Shepherd and their counsel chose to repeat some of the withdrawn charges in the Notice filed yesterday. These defamatory and self-serving statements do nothing to diminish the effect of their complete withdrawal of claims."

"This dismissal confirms my contention from the beginning that David Moyer's and Good Shepherd's claims were completely without merit."

Mr. Lewis indicated that he might seek redress in the courts for their now-withdrawn claims.

Fr. Moyer also faces a lawsuit from the Diocese of Pennsylvania which is seeking to ouster him from the property of the Church of The Good Shepherd.
