What Kentucky Bishop Stacy Sauls Really Believes

WHAT BISHOP STACY SAULS REALLY BELIEVES

By David W. Virtue

VERSAILLES, KY (2/12/2005)--It was a Wednesday night. The meeting was at the mutual request of the membership of St. John's Episcopal Church in Versailles, and Episcopal Bishop Stacy Sauls. The bishop wanted to explain what had happened at the 2003 General Convention. He also wanted to express his views on the vote to make Vicki Gene Robinson (a practicing homosexual) the bishop of New Hampshire and the vote for same sex blessings.

Bishop Sauls came and spent an hour explaining in great detail what happened at GC2003 with a chronological accounting of the events of the general convention. He explained how he had drafted a motion regarding the sexuality issues, but a variation of the motions drafted by others, was actually used.

He told them, as their Bishop, that he did vote for the above two issues. He than offered the listeners of St. John's the opportunity to ask him questions.

After several questions were asked and answered, Shelley Gaffney, a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, formerly of St. John's Episcopal, Versailles, Kentucky felt moved to ask the following questions to Bishop Sauls.

The following is an exact accounting of her questions and Bishop Saul's responses. In the following exchange between her and Bishop Sauls, she and a group of others were stunned at the beliefs and demeanor of their bishop and reported to VirtueOnline the following exchange.

Bear in mind that this is the new ECUSA religion which clearly does not include the Bible, but does include the ongoing persecution of orthodox clergy and laity.

Here is, word for word, what the bishop had to say in answer to a number of questions put to him about what he believed.

GAFFNEY: Do you believe the Bible is the inspired word of God?

SAULS: I believe the Bible is a book of poetry with a lot of history in it. I believe the Prayer Book has all that one needs for salvation.

GAFFNEY: Do you believe there is a Satan?

SAULS: Not metaphorically speaking, no. (He was laughing at me.)

GAFFNEY: Do you believe in the principalities and powers?

SAULS: (Laughing at Gaffney, and with a sneer said), I'll give you that one!

GAFFNEY: Do you believe in heaven and hell?

SAULS: I believe that an all loving God would never send anyone to hell for eternity. I believe he works it out in the end for everyone.
