Fr. Mark Polley, rector and dean at St. Vincent's Cathedral of Bedford, Texas, took to his Facebook account to give his condolences, calling the late bishop "an incredible example of a Godly man faithfully living the gospel of Jesus Christ."

"God only knows how many people he positively influenced with his faith, courage, steadfastness, but perhaps above all, his love for the people under his care and his humor in the goodness of this life," Polley wrote.

In exchange for ending his lawsuit against the West Point, Virginia school board, Vlaming will receive $575,000 in damages and legal fees and a change of school district policies according to Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) the Christian legal organization representing Vlaming after he was wrongly fired for declining to use inaccurate pronouns. His termination will be removed from his record.

It includes adherence to the faith as set out in the Apostles' and Nicene creeds, and belief in the Scriptures as the "supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct." The Charity Commission has now confirmed that it has opened a statutory inquiry into the charity, which is the highest level of probe under the regulator's remit.

The charity is the main organisation in a network of charities and legal entities around the world which have estimated assets of up to £100 million, with most of the funds coming from the UK.

It is feared that there could be a £15 million hole in the group's finances, internal documents show.
