"Things have been very chaotic but when we, in 2019, got the approval to appoint a woman to such a position, we saw it fit for Dr Onyango to take it up because of her experience and academic background. She now becomes only the second woman to be ordained in ACK," Kodia said.

He added: "She has what it takes. She is well educated and has trained so many people, including bishops and archbishops."

Episcopal seminaries including Episcopal Divinity School, Bexley Hall Seminary, and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, each announced similar language before merging or being subsumed into a larger institution. A fourth seminary, Church Divinity School of the Pacific, was acquired by the endowed parish of Trinity Wall Street in 2019. Each points to an ongoing trend of consolidation among institutions as the Episcopal Church contracts in membership and attendance numbers.

Boko Haram also attacked Garkida in Adamawa State at the same time on Christmas Eve. They were driven out by the Nigerian Army as residents fled from their homes into the bush. But the governor of Adamawa State told Morning Star News that they had killed two people, including a five-year-old boy, before the Army chased them out.

This year, All Saints' online-only Christmas service included a reading of Psalm 103:1--17 in which "The Lord" is substituted with a female "Fount of Wisdom" in which "WISDOM'S womb is full of love and faithfulness."

"SHE WHO IS WISDOM executes righteousness and judgment for all who are oppressed," parish Junior Warden Monique Thomas read in the service. "But the faithful love of SHE WHO IS WISDOM endures forever on those who revere her."
