Between 2007 and 2014, the number of religiously unaffiliated adults in the USA has increased from 16% to 23%. At the same time, these individuals have become increasingly secular. In 2007, 70% of the nones believed in God -- a number that dropped to 61% in 2014. Fewer nones attend church once a month, pray regularly, or find religion to be very important.

Divorced and remarried Catholics are unable to receive Communion, nor to teach religion or be godparents.

Historically, the Catholic Church has viewed marriage as a lifetime commitment. In Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus specifically rejects divorce. The Pharisees asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"

According to a September 30 report, in Germany, "Many Christian refugees from Syria, Iraq or Kurdistan are being intimidated and attacked by Muslim refugees. In several refugee centers set up by the local authorities, Sharia law is being imposed and Christians--which are a minority--are the victims of bullying."
