The videos, of which a fourth installment was released this morning, reveal Planned Parenthood officials discussing compensation for the potential sale of tissues from aborted pregnancies. Widely shared over social media, the videos sparked uproar among abortion opponents and some medical ethicists because the sale of fetal tissue for profit is illegal under U.S. law. CMP simultaneously released unedited footage of conversations with the officials.

According to Jesus's parable of the sower, Christianity in America represents a spiritual famine in great need of sustenance. Roughly 25 percent--not 70 percent--of Americans are Christians, which changes the discussion, and should cause grave concern, and the need for biblical discernment. --BB

Clearly we're at a stage in Western history where we need the church to be persuasive. Public life has grown more secular. Private worlds have become more diverse, and we have a mounting hostility against us. If ever Christians at large and evangelicals in particular needed to be persuasive with people who are not open, it's now. So I thought it was the time to write.

Moore's recent article on the video is largely reflective of Southern Baptists Convention's (SBC's) sentiment on the issue: "This is not only murderous; it is murderous in the most ghoulish way imaginable." Since 2008, the SBC has called for "the evaluation of candidates for elected office based on their affiliation with Planned Parenthood" and for "both houses of the United States Congress to defund Planned Parenthood."
