Paul writing to Timothy says in 1 Tim. 3:5, "If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?" (NIV)

The Archbishop thinks he can dodge a bullet on homosexuality, hoping to steer the Global South Primates away from the communion breaking issue and focus on other pressing hot button issues like poverty, violence, race and unemployment. However, the Global South Primates have given no indication that they will let him do that.

The jury brought in a unanimous verdict on the witness intimidation charges (considered the more serious complaint), but the single sexual assault charge found the jury divided with a 10 to 2 verdict reached over a two-day period.

Judge Peter Blair QC tried to obtain a unanimous verdict but failed. The judge then gave the jury permission to get a majority verdict. Had there been a 9 to 3 decision the case would have had to be retried.

Therefore, while not wishing to stigmatize gay Christians, I cannot countenance blessing unions that are not sacramentally valid marriages." Apparently he cannot say that.
