The best efforts for dialogue with the leaders have not worked as they are constantly in a mood of indignant denial. The efforts to bring pressures from the partner churches and organisations overseas did not materialise as they continue to financially support foreign visits made by the corrupt bishops and award scholarships to bishops' children to study abroad.

In 2003 Bishop Terry offered alternative episcopal oversight to New Westminster parishes unwilling to continue under Bishop Michael Ingham after he approved same-sex blessings. The offer did not fill Ingham with unalloyed joy and was later retracted.

In 2005 he was elected metropolitan of the ecclesiastical province of British Columbia and Yukon and he also served as chaplain to the Zacchaeus Fellowship, a group of Christian believers who have struggled with same-sex attraction.

We are grateful to God that the 79th General Convention has preserved the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, guaranteeing its continued use. While giving space for those who seek to develop new rites and new language under the guidance of their bishop, the Convention "memorialize[d] the 1979 Book of Common Prayer as a Prayer Book of the church preserving the psalter, liturgies, The Lambeth Quadrilateral, Historic Documents, and Trinitarian formularies ensuring its continued use" (Resolution A068).

Three times Bishop Love referenced the prayer book in his plea. He recalled the promises he made at his own episcopal consecration as bishop on Sept. 16, 2006, at the hands of Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold, and his Albany predecessors Daniel Herzog (VIII Albany); David Bell (VII Albany) and David Bena (Albany-suffragan). Church of Ireland Bishop Harold Miller was on hand as an ecumenical representative of the wider Anglican Communion.
