Average Sunday attendance for over-18s had fallen from 30,424 in 2014 to 29,019 in 2015: a fall of five per cent. Easter communicants were down one per cent to 51,435, while the number of Christmas communicants had fallen three per cent to 49,972.

The conference follows the decision of the Governing Body to authorise the consecration of women as bishops in the Church in Wales. The organising committee says it hopes to bring together those who rejoice at this decision and those who are perturbed by it. The aim is to see how much common ground there is and to consider carefully what is required to enable people of differing convictions to feel secure and able to flourish within the Church in Wales.

At the most recent Diocesan Convention this past March, the Affiliation Task Force recommended the Diocese affiliate with ACNA. The day-long clergy gathering was spent outlining the ACNA structure, the process of affiliation and the steps that need to be taken to move forward. The clergy were urged to share the information with their parishes. The Diocese will put the affiliation question to a vote at the upcoming Diocesan Convention in March of 2017.

Ortom added that the conference would bring blessings to the people of the state as well as all delegates.
