The second recommended that Williams ask West Indies Archbishop Drexel Gomez to step down as chairman of the Anglican Covenant Design Group.

The Rt. Rev. William Frey is recovering from quadruple bypass surgery. Bishop Frey, who has served as Bishop of Colorado, Bishop of Guatemala, and as dean of Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry, underwent emergency surgery on Nov. 27. His family reports the surgery was successful and that he is doing as well as can be expected.

December 04 2006 By virtueonline SOUTHWEST FLORIDA: Diocesan convention reduces payment to Episcopal Church

The budget amendment was introduced by the Rev. John Hiers, rector of the Church of the Ascension in Clearwater. In suggesting the cuts, he noted churches in Southwest Florida give only 10 percent of their budgets to the diocese and the diocese is healthy. "The Biblical principles of tithing have worked very well in this diocese and I think it's time that we continue to follow that for health of our diocese," he said on the floor of convention.
