The 67-year-old became the Archbishop of the Province in 2018, and his 5-year term was set to expire on August 25, 2023.

However, according to the resolutions of an extraordinary meeting of the House of Bishops held recently, he will continue to serve until October 2026.

"I am a servant, and my service will be focused on the pillars of Church such as education, capacity building, evangelism, and so on," Mbanda said, commenting on his term's extension.

TEC appealed this interpretation of the Courts 2017 collective opinions in July 2020, not on the basis of Judge Dickson's legal arguments, but only on the assertion that he had no authority to provide any interpretation. Their argument is that his only possible role was to simply enforce what they assert the Court had ruled.

The agreement was welcomed and approved at both the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and the General Synod of the Scottish Episcopal Church earlier this year.

After a conference to discuss and explore the churches' future relationship, Rev Prof Canon Charlotte Methuen from the Scottish Episcopal Church and the Rev Sandy Horsburgh from the Church of Scotland led the cathedral service where the Declaration was jointly signed by the Moderator and the Primus.

In 1962 (the height of Anglican participation) the ACoC reported more than 1.3 million members, out of a total Canadian population of approximately 18 million, seven percent of Canadians affiliated with the Anglican Church.

According to the Uganda government Newspaper, The New Vision, the award-winning priest, Gideon Byamugisha co-founded the African Network of Religious Leaders Living with and Personally Affected with HIV and AIDS in 1992. He also published a book about his struggles in 2019, 'Labours of Love', published by Wisdom Publishers.

In an interview he said that the book sold out and he appeals for sponsors to help him reprint more copies.
