The Anglicans were killed at one spot and the Catholics from another area. In the 1970's both churches started holding annual ceremonies at the spots where the martyrs were killed. Later they constructed shrines at the places where martyrs were slaughtered.

A parent of one of the beneficiaries, Mary Angena said, "I am happy about the Anglican Church in Kenya donating sanitary pads and other items like soap and Vaseline to my 14 yr. old daughter who was defiled by a 40 yr. old man. The man disappeared after defiling my daughter."

16 yr. old Anges Nyadiri said that she is also a victim of sexual abuse who recently benefitted by the donation from the Anglican Church.

The deceased priests are Rev Bijumon, 52, and Rev Shine B Raj, 43. Bijumon, who was the vicar of CSI church, Kazhukode, near Vattappara, died last Thursday. Shine B Raj, who was the vicar of CSI church, Punnakkamugal, near Thirumala, breathed his last on Tuesday. His funeral was held later in the day.Many of the infected priests are under treatment at Dr Somervell CSI Medical College Hospital at Karakonam and some are in home treatment.

"Even before the pandemic, the pace of opening new congregations was not even providing enough replacements for those that closed their doors," said Scott McConnell, executive director of Lifeway Research.

The study also pointed to the hastening of church closures. In 2014, it found, there were 3,700 church closures, compared with 4,500 in 2019.

Henry completed an MA in Theology at Westminster Seminary and in 1994, Henry completed the Doctor of Philosophy degree, specializing in New Testament Studies, at Trinity University in Chicago. Upon graduation Henry and Shirley were called to serve in educational ministries in Singapore. They connected with Anglicanism there through St. George's Church and The Anglican Province of Southeast Asia.

"It is unfortunate that the Anglican Diocese of Abyei sits in the most northern part of South Sudan, in an area that experiences Islamic encroachments followed by harassment, intimidation and frequent attacks carried out by Arab Islamic militias."

He called on Christians and people of all faiths who want peace to pray for South Sudan, particularly for the Abyei Diocese and that such killings come to an end.
